HRH Prince/ Muhammad bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior sponsored the National Forum for Prevention of Sexual Exploitation of Children via the Internet in Riyadh from 15th to 17th Safar 1438H. The event was organized by the General Directorate of Public Security in cooperation with a number of departments of the Ministry of Interior, as well as governmental and non-governmental agencies.
A delegation from Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) took part in the event. It included Dr. Tawfiq Al-Bakri, Vice Dean of the College of Education for Educational Affairs, Prof. Dr. Khalid Al-Towaim, Head of Islamic Education and Comparison Department, Dr. Dhiab Al-Maliki, Member of Staff at the Department of Psychology, and Dr. Salma Al-Sobai'y, Assistant Head of the Department of Psychology.
The forum witnessed regional and international participation which included 12 countries and 15 community-based organizations, international bodies, and related national and regional associations to discuss their preventive experiences in dealing with the problem of sexual exploitation of children over the internet, and how to protect them from abuse.
It is worth mentioning that the Forum aimed at identifying the procedures of fighting against misuse of the internet and technology in sexual exploitation of children. It targeted the significance and effectiveness of legal action and regulatory measures to prevent sexual exploitation of children. In addition, the event discussed reinforcing the preventive role played by family and respective social institutions, as well as spreading preventive awareness against, and crystallizing the national efforts to prevent, the risks of sexual exploitation of children via the internet and cyberspace means.
On the other hand, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri Bin M'atooq Assas, Dr. Thamer Al-Harbi, UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Dr. Ali Al-Matrifi, Dean of the College of Education, appreciated the efforts exerted by the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. They also expressed their gratitude to the generous sponsorship by HRH Prince/ Muhammad bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, which embodied the great attention paid by such wise leadership to support all what could involve protection of the security of the country and all the families and children of its nationals and residents, and to prevent any negative phenomenon that could harm community life.
