Dr. Yasser ibn Soliman Shushu, the Umm Al-Qura University Vice President, participated at the preparatory meeting of the 22nd meeting for the Committee of the Presidents and Directors of the Universities and Higher Education Institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. The meeting took place at the Abha King Khalid University from the thirtieth to the thirty first of October, 2016.
Still, the agenda of the meeting involved discussing a number of the academic, scientific and research topics. Among these are putting into effect the decision of the higher council of accrediting the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques about boosting the joint gulf action, equalizing the GCC states’ citizens regarding admission and rules of the universities and the higher governmental educational institutions, international cooperation, joint work committees, award regulating mechanism and the strategic plan for cooperating in the higher education and scientific research field of the GCC states. In addition to this, the agenda touched upon the gulf database “Jisr” and excellence award in designing and developing the e-courses.
Within the same vein, Dr Yasser pointed out that taking part in this preparatory meeting aims at discussing with the GCC universities’ vice presidents the agenda of the administrative, financial, academic and research topics which reinforce the work flow and develop its mechanism according to the plans drawn up, as well as tackling the aspects of cooperation serving the public interest in the region.
