The Narcotics Control Committee at Umm Al-Qura University, in cooperation with the Tobacco and Narcotics Combat Charity Society (Kafa), held an awareness exhibition this morning under the slogan of "Our University Is Free from Smoking". The exhibition aims at introducing the dangers of smoking to those in the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture.

The exhibition is part of the "Do not Lose It" awareness campaign led by the university to combat the spread of smoking in the university facilities. All the university's colleges are due to visit the exhibition.

The Chairman of the Narcotics Control Committee, Dr. Mish`al Al-Salami, stressed that the establishment of exhibitions in the university campus is motivated by their feeling of responsibility towards the students and the need to educate and enlighten them about the harmful effects of smoking, before starting to actually apprehend violators of smoking regulations in the university's premises. The mobile clinic for smoking cessation will be located at the student activities headquarters to receive the beneficiaries from Sunday to Wednesday.
