The Saudi Cultural Attaché in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Khalid Al-Nami, sent a cable of thanks and congratulations to His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, President of Umm Al-Qura University, for the university's participation in the pavilion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the 50th International Book Fair in Cairo, which which was held from 22 January to 5 February 2019. The Saudi pavilion received first place due to the diversity of its accompanying cultural activities, and impressed many officials, ambassadors, university administrators, and visitors.

UQU University participated in the exhibition with a number of scientific, cultural, and academic publications that reflect the achievements of the university and its development in scientific publication and refereed scientific research. The university delegation presented a detailed explanation of their contributions and the contents of the exhibition to the visitors of the pavilion. They stressed that the university's participation had the support of the university's president, His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail. It illustrated the progress witnessed by the university under the support of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah bless him.
