His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the President of Umm Al-Qura University, launched the e-portal for managing investment on Thursday, 16 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H. This e-portal contains a database and heat maps for 110 investment locations pertaining to the university in its main headquarters in Al-Abdiyyah, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and its branches in Jamoum, Al-Leith, Al-Qunfudhah and Adham in order to increase revenues and support self resources. This activity was attended by the General Supervisor of Investment Administration, Dr. Saud Al-Harithi, and his deputy Dr. Ayman Al-Rahaili.
Prof. Bafail said, "We seek to develop investment aspects of the university in a way that goes in line with the transformation plan 2020 and the vision of 2030, as it is of paramount importance for the diversification of income resources and active development of facilities and utilities." His Excellency praised the continuous support of His Excellency Dr. Hamad Al Sheikh, Minister of Education, who stressed the importance of studying the use of investment opportunities in areas that the different colleges and utilities of the university need, as they should be floated before investors to diversify the resources of the university income.
The General Supervisor of Investment Administration pointed out that they seek to achieve distinction in attracting the best investments with the lowest amount of risks. He added that they were also keen on developing university investment resources according to the best international and national practices.
Dr. Al-Rahaili explained the heat map of investment opportunities, which enable the investor to be acquainted with all the data relating to the investment location placed in the market with regard to student density. He also talked about the database that facilitates the procedures of obtaining data about investment locations, and developing the indicators of performance and quality.
It is worth mentioning that the Investment Administration was established by virtue of the decree of His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University in 1439 A.H., to be capable of managing investment in a way that contributes in increasing revenues through the development and investment of the different locations belonging to the university, discussing innovative investment opportunities, and attracting promising investment opportunities. The Investment Administration works with other investment arms inside the university in the frame of a comprehensive strategic plan that takes into consideration the priorities, plans, and vision of the university.
