His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, President of Umm Al-Qura University, and Dr. Talal Abu Al-Nur, the General Supervisor of the Sacred Land Glorification Project, concluded a cooperation agreement in research fields related to the Prophet's biography, the emerging issues in Islamic jurisprudence in the Makkan environment, Hajj and Umrah rituals, and the Sacred Land Project Award for Scientific Research. This took place in His Excellency's office on Tuesday, 16 Jumada Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H., in the presence of Dr. Hashim Hariri, the Deputy Chairman of the Sub-Council of the Neighborhood Centers Association, and Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Ahdal, the Dean of Scientific Research.

His Excellency confirmed that the agreement comes within the scope of the social responsibility of the university towards its society, noting that the Sacred Land Glorification Project plays a prominent role in providing voluntary services to pilgrims. He explained, "Cooperation in the project will take place through the research cadres of the university."

Dr. Talal Abu Al-Nur pointed out that the project works to provide community services to the guests of the Merciful (the pilgrims) under the umbrella of the Neighborhood Centers Association, under the supervision of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and in cooperation with the Emirate of Makkah Region. The project aims to raise awareness and spread the culture of glorifying the Sacred Land, and to create effective community, building on its value-based approach and scientific methodology. The project seeks to establish strategic partnerships with the leading institutions in the research process to achieve its objectives.

The Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Ahdal, pointed out that the scope of the work of the agreement is related to conducting scientific research, and establishing exhibitions that present the results of research in specific areas of cooperation. This is as well as drawing up a clear plan for the Sacred Land Project Award for Scientific Research that will be awarded to the best studies associated with Makkah.
