His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the President of Umm Al-Qura University, witnessed today, Thursday 4 Jumada Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H., the signing of the agreement between the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research and the College of Medicine to train its students to conduct scientific medical research.
The agreement was signed by the Dean of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research, Dr. Sami bin Yasin Brahmin, and His Excellency Dr. Abdul-Salam Nour Wali, the Dean of the College of Medicine.
Dr. Sami Brahmin pointed out that the Institute is the research body specialized in studies related to Hajj and Umrah as well as visits to the Holy Sites, in addition to being the advisory body to a number of governmental authorities and committees in all matters related to scientific research. He stressed that the College of Medicine at Umm Al-Qura University has specialized cadres with distinguished potential in the health field, which is one of the concerns of the Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research. He encouraged the Institute and the College to exchange experience and benefit from each other's potential in the common areas between them that contribute to improve the qualifications of national cadres.
His Excellency Dr. Abdul-Salam Nour Wali, the Dean of the College of Medicine, said that the aim of the agreement is to facilitate joint co-operation between the college and the institute by training students how to conduct research, in line with the academic program of their college and according to the needs of the institute for scientific studies. Students will also be trained how to use specialized scientific devices, and opportunities will be provided for the research personnel of the College to participate in specialized scientific research related to the health of pilgrims and visitors, according to scientific standards and scientific research procedures at Umm Al-Qura University.
His Excellency Prof. Bafail welcomed the agreement and praised the support the University receives from the wise leadership, may Allah support them, which contributed to its research activities, especially in the fields of Hajj, Umrah and visits to the Holy Sites. The research includes environmental, health, administrative, humanitarian, architectural and engineering aspects, as well as technical and information research.
