UQU and Mobily Discusses Aspects of Cooperation

President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri M'atooq bin Bakri Assas held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) Mr. Ahmad Farroukh, at his office in Abdyia campus last Tuesday  Muharram 10, 1438, and discussed with him aspects of cooperation between the University and Mobily. The meeting was attended by the UQU Vice President Dr. Yassir bin Suleiman Shoushou, the Dean of the College of Computer and Information Systems Dr. Fahad Al-Dossari, the Dean of Information Technology,  Majid M. Al Gethami, the Vice Dean of Information Technology Turki Al-Ghamdi, the Director of Swanid Innovation Initiative Eng. Ghazi Al-Dajani, as well as the Executive Director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations Mr. Mohammad Al-Balawi and a number of officials from Mobily Company. 
 


The meeting discussed a number of significant issues including the agreement between the two parties to create a joint teamwork to discuss ways of cooperation in providing development and training programs from the two sides, besides reviewing prospects of joint cooperation between Mobily's Community for Application Developers projects and the relevant authorities in the university.  

 


Within the same vein, the two parties will seek to cooperate in recruiting UQU graduates in Mobily, providing consultancy for students from the related specialties, urging students to register and participate in the events of Mobily's Community for Application Developers projects, developing joint programs in the fields of training, qualification and recruitment of Saudi youth talents, in addition to providing services for the students and affiliates of Um Al-Qura university. 
 


Meanwhile, President of UQU Dr. Assas explained that the university welcomes the cooperation with Mobily to serve male and female students of the university and implement a number of  important initiatives to serve UQU students and affiliates, adding that the cooperation between public and private sectors contribute to knowledge development, human investment, and community development.  He lauded the research and scientific excellence achieved by Umm Al-Qura University through its research centers and investments to turn these research into patents and then tangible products via Wadi Makkah Technology Company, besides establishing various startups which contributed to serving the community in various fields. 


 
For his part, the CEO of Mobily Mr. Farroukh said: "We in Mobily are very pleased to cooperate with Umm Al-Qura University in the fields of training, development, and services given that education is the cornerstone on the way to the progress and development of the community". Having such a thing in mind he added, the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has harnessed all potentials to  strengthen this approach and from our part in  Mobily, we always seek to boost education wheel by supporting the educational outputs that qualify the youth to assume leadership positions in giant companies.  
 


It's worth to mention here that UQU and Mobily have a history of cooperation when the Company sponsored the 3rd Scientific Research Forum of the male and female students of the medical and health colleges in the university that aimed at disseminating the culture of scientific research amongst students in the different colleges of medicine in the Kingdom. Currently, the College of Computer  is organizing a free training course provided by Mobily  for those interested in mobiles applications to increase 
graduates competitiveness in the labor market and meet demand in the technical jobs. 
 


The Two Parties have also cooperated in the competition of Mobily's Community for Application Developers projects #Mobily_Hackathon which contributed to supporting students' academic community and developing youth talent. The University was a member of the judgment committee of the competition held recently in Riyadh for developers of Mobily applications. The winning team will win a trip to Silicon Valley, the United Stated of America for one week, with the aim of supporting the developers and acquainting them with the latest developments in the field of technologies and entrepreneurship.
