Jamoum University College hosted the activities for International Volunteer Day (IVD) organized by the Civil Defense Directorate at Jamoum Governorate in the presence of the Governor of Jamoum, Mr. Umran bin Hasan Al-Zahrani; the Dean of Jamoum University College, Dr. Tawfiq bin Ali Al-Sharif; the Director General of the Civil Defense Directorate, Col. Sa`d bin Frijan Al-Utaibi; government sector officials; and the volunteer teams in the Governorate.
The ceremony began with a Qur’anic recitation, followed by a speech from Col. Sa`d Al-Utaibi, who explained that Jamoum Civil Defense Directorate harnesses its full capacity to serve volunteer work in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 towards enabling larger participation in volunteer work.
Afterwards, the audience watched an awareness video about the culture of volunteering, followed by a speech from Mr. Mahran Al-Barakati, the representative of the Saudi Peace Team, who said that volunteers provide the best example of social solidarity. He also praised the efforts of the Civil Defense Directorate and their enthusiasm in supporting the volunteers.
Dr. Al-Sharif extended his thanks and appreciation to UQU President Prof. Bafail for supporting the college's activities and events. He said that the participation of the college in this event is part of its responsibility towards the community and to boost a culture of volunteering amongst students.
