The President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) has honored 12 outstanding students from Al-Qunfudhah College of Engineering in a ceremony organized by the College of Health Sciences in the presence of the Mayor of Al-Qunfudhah, Mr. Fadha Al-Boqamy; Director of Al-Qunfudhah Education Office, Dr. Muhammad Al-Zahmy; several officials; UQU vice presidents; college deans; and parents of the students on Tuesday Rabi` Al-Awwal 19, 1440 A.H., corresponding to November 27, 2018 A.C.
The ceremony honored 740 outstanding students from all scientific and theoretical majors of Al-Qunfudhah University College, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Medicine, the College of Engineering, and the College of Computer Science.
Excellence certificates and memorial shields were distributed to students during the ceremony, which began with a Quranic recitation followed by a speech from the Dean of Al-Qunfudhah College of Health Sciences, Dr. Omar Hazzazy. Then, Abdullah Al-Shaikhaly and Halima Al-Abdaly delivered speeches on behalf of the outstanding students.
Mr. Fadha Al-Boqamy praised this scientific achievement, which is in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
In his speech, Prof. Bafail extended his thanks to those in charge of this wonderful initiative of honoring the outstanding students, who deserve admiration and praise. He added that his participation in this blessed day is to celebrate the great achievements of these students, who are the pillars of the future and an investment in the bright future of the nation. "We will continue our efforts at the university to make the ‘Student First’ slogan a tangible reality and realized goal, not just an empty one. I congratulate you, my students, and urge you to become noble ambassadors of your university in all fields. The country is waiting for you to build and develop the future as scientists, physicians, and engineers," he said.
He then expressed his appreciation for the support provided to the university by the wise leadership and the supervision and guidance of the Advisor to the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, the Emir of Makkah, HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, and the Deputy Emir of Makkah, HRH Prince Abdullah bin Bandar, who always asks about the university branch in Al-Qunfudhah and the developments and progress of work in the new buildings.
