The UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, inaugurated the “UQU Colleges Award” for the colleges that initiate publishing their scientific production on the electronic search engines, the Search Engines Guide Series in Arabic language, as well as the “UQU Initiative 3,000” that aims at encouraging the researchers to register at the electronic search engines. Held at Dr. Assas’s office, the inauguration was attended by the UQU Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Thamer Al-Harbi, and the Commissioned Dean of Scientific Research, and Dean of the Institute of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for Hajj and Umrah Research, Dr. Faisal bin Ahmad Al-Allaf.
On his part, Dr. Al-Allaf mentioned that the Search Engines Guide Series in Arabic language consists of 6 main guides to facilitate the registration of the researchers at the main search engines. He also added that the series is produced by Dr. Tahani bent Muhammad Al-Subait, faculty member in the Department of Information Science at UQU, and edited and reviewed by both Dr. Suhail bin Salem Ba-Jamal, the Vice-dean for Groups and Research Centers Affairs, and Dr. Hanadi bent Muhammad Behiri, the Vice-dean for Quality and Development.
Moreover, Dr. Al-Allaf stated that the “UQU Colleges Award” would be announced on Wednesday, Rabi’ al-awwal 21, 1438H, at the closing ceremony of the First Forum for Scientific Research. Further, he added that the specifications and regulations of the award were developed by the Colleges Award Preparation Committee, chaired by the Deputy of the Center of Educational and Psychological Research, Dr. Diana Hammad.
Over and above, he denoted that the “UQU Initiative 3,000” aims at encouraging the researchers to invite their fellows to register at the electronic search engines. The initiative duration is 3 months through which each faculty member is expected to invite 3 other faculty members from UQU to register at 3 search engines for researchers’ databases, and ensure that each of the 3 invitees would, in turn, invite other 3 faculty members to do the same, and so forth. He also said that the ultimate goal of the initiative is to have 3,000 UQU faculty members registered at 3 search engines, by the end of the 3 months. In addition, Dr. Al-Allaf explained that Dr. Suhail bin Salem Ba-Jamal, the Vice-dean for Groups and Research Centers Affairs, contributed to developing the initiative and tracking the search engines.
Eventually, Dr. Al-Allaf praised the generous support that the Deanship for Scientific Research and Research Centers receives from Dr. Assas, and Dr. Al-Harbi, and he asked Allah to reward the efforts of each and every one contributed to developing the research activities at UQU, and activating its research activism to make the UQU one of the top universities in scientific research.
On his part, Dr. Assas extended thanks to the Deanship for Scientific Research and its affiliated centers for their significant role in developing the scientific research system of the UQU so as to become one of the top international universities. Further, he added that the UQU seeks to transform to knowledge-based economy through the researches produced within the framework of this development. At last, Dr. Assas stressed that the UQU aspires to be a research reference in sciences, and a main partner in managing the knowledge-based economy, through maintaining an integrated research environment that encourages research production as per the Saudi Vision 2030.
