UQU President Checks on Number of Colleges in the Academic Axis

The President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas on Monday Dhul-Hijjah 25, 1437 H paid an inspection visit to a number of colleges in the academic axis at the university campus in Abdiyah. He was accompanied by the Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service Dr. Hany bin Othman Ghazi, the Dean of University Development and Quality Dr. Mohamed Ja'afar Thabit, and the Director General of Public Relations and Media Department Mr. Khalid bin Jamil Morsi. The inspection visit started from the College of Education, then passed through the colleges of  Da'wa and Islamic Theology, Shari'a and Islamic Studies, Arabic Language,  and Applied Sciences, to check on the commencement of the academic year  1437/1438 H and to review stages of academic and institutional accreditation of the colleges.  

   
During the inspection, Dr. Assas and his entourage met with the Deans of the Colleges, a number of faculty members and students inside their study halls and educational laboratories to check on the beginning of the academic year and identify their different requirements.  

 

He said that inspecting the academic axis and its colleges is annual strategy undertaken by the university administration to check on the beginning of the academic year in its specific time in such manner which supports the educational and academic process and contribute to creating proper educational environment for students and  get acquainted with their desires and to review all that might hinder the educational process in light of the potentials provided by our wise leadership. Meanwhile, Dr. Assas urged all the university departments including the Operation and Maintenance, and Safety and Security Departments to follow up buildings of the colleges, study halls and the services offered to them continuously so as to help provide the proper educational environment for our students. In this regard, he lauded the efforts exerted by the UQU Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service Dr. Hany bin Othman Ghazi, all the staff  of the vice presidency and the different university colleges  for getting the institutional academic accreditation at the specific time according to the set plan.

 
For his part, the UQU Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service Dr. Hany bin Othman Ghazi said this inspection visit carried out by the Dr. Assas to the academic axis and a number of colleges in Abdiyah campus, is aimed at checking on the commencement of the academic year on the ground in the study halls and to review progress made by these colleges towards the institutional accreditation. He revealed that these colleges have met the best part of the  standards, conditions, and requirements of the institutional academic accreditation issued to the university by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation & Assessment expecting the university to get this accreditation  during the coming year. He credited reaching such advanced stages by the University Vice-Presidency for Academic Development and Community Service, to the support and directives of the UQU President.  

 

After that, Dr. Assas made an inspection visit to the Deanship of Admission and Registration and was briefed on its academic services by the Dean of Admission and Registration Dr. Abdulmajeed Al-Ghamdi and met with a number of students who have enquiries regarding their academic march in the university wishing them all success. He praised efforts exerted by the Dean of Admission and Registration and all the staff of the deanship that contributed to defining relevant study departments for about 90.000 students he branded the deanship as the heartbeat of the university  for distributing all the male and female students amongst the teaching staff amounting to about 5.000 members.    

 
At the conclusion, he said that the number of the students of  Umm Al-Qura University including its branches in Jamoum, Al-Leith, Adhm and Al-Qunfudhah amounts to 110.000 students at all levels.
