In Abdiyyaa today, Thursday October 25, 2018, at his office at the university campus, the UQU President Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail received the Consul General of France in the Kingdom, Mr. Mostafa Mihraje, and the Deputy Consul General of France for Cultural Cooperation Affairs, Mr. Kareem M'atooq. Present in the meeting were the Dean of the Arabic Language Institute for Non-Native Speakers Dr. Hassan Bukhari, the Head of the English Language Department Dr. Ali Abu Al-Reesh, and the Vice Dean of Information Technology for e-Transactions Dr. Atef Al-Hejaili.
At the commencement of the meeting, Prof. Bafail welcomed the Consul General of France in the Kingdom and his delegation, and praised the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the cooperation in all fields. He reviewed the university's achievements as well as those of its colleges, institutes, and research centers in different academic and research fields, and its scientific and educational mission to serve the community. He then praised the support provided by the wise leadership to the educational programs of the university. This support contributed to providing university education in all sciences for the sons of this nation besides providing education opportunities for the sons of the Muslim nation enrolled in the different programs of the Arabic Language Institute for Non-Native Speakers and the Colleges of Sharia and Arabic Language, wishing them all success.
For his part, the Consul General of France expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UQU President for receiving him and enriching him with the academic and scientific achievements of the university. He expressed his appreciation for the detailed explanation offered to him about the advancements achieved by this scientific and educational entity. He said that his visit to Umm Al-Qura University comes within the coordination efforts between UQU and the France Consulate, given the scientific and educational role of this blessed university in the different educational fields along with advanced modern sciences, wishing for such cooperation to increase in such a manner that will achieve and serve the aspirations and hopes of everyone in all fields of mutual concern.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting discussed the topics related to the international cooperation and the cultural exchange between the university and the educational institutions in France.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the UQU President handed out memorial gifts of this occasion to the Consul General of France.
