Wadi Makkah Company Wraps up its 1st Summer Program for 66 Students

The University of Umm Al-Qura has concluded the 1st summer program organized by Wadi Makkah Technology Company in collaboration with the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for 66 students from different Saudi universities. The concluding event was attended by the Dean of Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Dr. Wadih Barqawi, Head of the Technology Innovation Center  at Wadi Makkah Company Dr. Anas Ba-Salama, Wadi Makkah PR Official Majed Abdullah and a number of heads of departments in the Saudi universities. The event took place at the headquarters of Wadi Makkah Startups Center in the University Campus in Abdiyah on Sunday  Dhul-Hijjah 3, 1437H.   

 

The trainees showcased variety of examples of their projects achieved during the training period that lasted for 6 weeks in four different tracks including; modeling system, programming web site and application designing, and business development.

 

Within the same vein the Dean of Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Dr. Wadih Barqawi said the summer program is part of a study and training plan set by the Institute. He added the program is only a step forward after success achieved in Japan, UK and the US, and this year the program, was held at Wadi Makkah's HQ, to provide the trainees with a practical environment that helps them to achieve their projects in the most convenient manner possible . He added that we have come out with more than 60 projects during the this year's training program.

 

 

For his part,  CEO of Wadi Makkah Osama bin Rashid Al-Omari, expressed his happiness for honoring the trainees who have completed their training period in the Wadi Makkah Startups Center which provided them with all possible capabilities and services. He called upon those who were not able to join the program this year, to apply for the coming programs, Allah willing.

 

Concluding he expressed his gratefulness for the support and care given by UQU President Dr. Bakri Bin Maatouq Assas , and he extended his thanks and appreciation to the UQU Vice-President for Business & Innovation – who serves also as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Wadi Makkah - Dr. Nabil bin Abdul Qader Koshak for his initiative to open Wadi Makkah for trainees from in and outside Umm Al-Qura University.
