The Institute of Research and Consultation Studies at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), represented by the Centre for Safety, Risk and Crisis Management (SAFE), announced that UQU staff members who wish to collaborate with SAFE should apply via the Center’s E-Portal. This was to benefit from the staff members’ specialized consultancy and training expertise in the domain of safety systems in industrial, constructive and public projects, industrial security, planning and dealing with risks, disasters and crises.

In this regard, Dr. Ali bin Muhammad Al-Shaery, Dean of the Institute, said that SAFE was considered one of UQU’s outputs that were compatible with the National Transformation Plans 2020 and the Saudi Vision 2030. He stressed that it would prepare and present a range of programs, courses and advisory services. For example, programs would be specialized in developing and upgrading security and safety systems, and implementing quality standards. In addition, training courses would be related to occupational safety and health in engineering projects, consultancy services, preventive security and occupational safety, prevention of losses in vital installations, industrial security and public safety systems, disaster and crisis planning, advanced occupational safety and health patterns, as well as risk check, classification and analysis.

In the same context, the Dean asserted that SAFE would provide its advisory and training services in accordance with international standards and specifications in the planning and design of occupational security and safety policies. He also pointed out to the advantages of joining SAFE. In other words, the applicant would receive intensive training in safety, risk and crisis management, and qualification for a membership in the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) followed by the opportunity to join the SAFE Advisory Team.

On the other hand, Dr. Ali Al-Shaery explained that those interested in joining the Center should visit its UQU website and apply via the E-Portal page. He stressed that it should be taken into account that applicants should be UQU affiliates, specialized in safety, risk and crisis management, holding at least a Bachelor's degree in the Center’s domain of work. Above all, he appreciated the support and guidance by Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Ba-Fil, UQU President, in order to achieve the aspirations and visions of the Institute in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
