UQU President Receives Head of Charity Society in Makkah

President of Umm Al Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas on Wednesday, Shawal 22, held a meeting with Chairman of the Charity Society in Makkah Mr. Hatem Qadi, Board Member Walid Sembawa, Head of Public Relations at the Society Mr. Nabil Jastaniah and Chairman of Osama A. ElKhereiji Certified Public Accountants and Business Consultants.

The meeting took up a study for structuring the society. It was attended by Vice-President for Educational Affairs Abdul-Aziz bin Rashad Al-Srouji, Dean of College of Community Service and Continuing Education Dr. Hamed Al Rubaie, Dean of Community College Dr. Khaled Barqawi and Vice-president of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research in Madina Dr. Ahmed Qadi.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Assas welcomed Mr. Hatem Qadi and set down to watch a presentation on the society's vision, mission and projects that provide social and health services in addition to the social homes including Dialysis Center and Makkah Institute for Speech and Hearing. Also, he was briefed about the society's new projects which are expected to be established to help the poor in Makkah.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Qadi said the society's vision is to boost cooperation with different agencies in Makkah and benefit from their experiences. He said the society endeavors to maximize benefits from UQU's academic and community service experience.

In the same context, Dr. Assas voiced happiness over fruitful cooperation with the society to serve the community in Makkah by a number of colleges, scientific chairs and concerned staff members. The colleges that are interested in community services include the College of Community Service, the Community College and the Albir Chair for humanitarian Services.

The university has held a number of forums and launched a number of initiatives in the field of the community services, Dr. Assas said, expressing thanks to the society's chairman and board members.

Dr. Hamed Al Rubaie addressed the meeting too giving an overview about the the initiatives launched by the college to serve several community groups and agencies in Makkah.

In the meantime, Dean of Community College and Supervisor of Albir Chair for Humanitarian Services Dr. Khaled Barqawi delivered a speech on the chair's activities including workshops, conferences and seminars.

He briefed the attendees on study to meet the needs of the NGOs in Makkah that are met by Sulaiman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi Charitable Foundation. The study is made by the UQU's Albir for Humanitarian Studies. He discussed the charitable societies' working style guide.
