President of Umm Al-Qura University Professor Abdullah Omar BaFail will launch tomorrow Wednesday the activities of (Arabic Manuscripts) organized by the Institute of Manuscripts and Revival of Islamic Heritage in the period from Rajab 18-19, 1439 H. The activities will include a scientific lecture under the title of " Shedding light on Early Hijazi script" through the early copies of Quranic manuscripts and the archeological evidences and training course titled "Arabic Manuscript from Codicology to Critical Edition". The activities will take place at the hall of the Deanship of Library Affairs in the Abdyia- based university campus and will be transmitted via the closed CV Circuit at King Abdulla University Library in Al-Zahir campus for female students.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Institute of Manuscripts and Revival of Islamic Heritage Dr. Adnan bin Mohamed Al-Harthi appreciated sponsorship of the UQU President Professor Abdullah BaFaid of the activities of the Arabic Manuscripts Day which is designed to highlight the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its interest in the Arabic manuscript heritage besides introducing the Arabic manuscript heritage to coming generations.
He explained that the participation in the activities of the Arabic Manuscripts Day comes within the objectives, the institute seeks to achieve represented in collecting the copies and original Islamic heritage from all over the world, archiving and indexing manuscripts, providing researchers with the proper manuscripts, disseminating Islamic heritage in all fields of knowledge, providing scientific and specialized consultations in the field of manuscripts, supporting and encouraging graduate students and faculty members in the universities to work in the manuscripts verification field besides organizing training courses in the field of Islamic heritage verification and study and conducting specialized research and studies in the field of paper manuscripts sterilization and renovation.
