The President of UQU, Bakri bin Maatouq Assass, has inaugurated laboratories for the English Department at the College of Social Sciences. The laboratories can accommodate up to 100 students and are among the most modern language laboratories in terms of the technical preparations and their interactive software that follow the international scientific quality standards of language teaching. The inauguration took place in the presence of the Vice Dean of the College of Social Sciences for Educational Affairs, Dr. Adnan bin Nouri Al-Harbi, and the Head of the English Department, Dr. Ali bin Hassan Aboulreish, at the headquarters of the Social Sciences College at the campus in Al-Abideyah.
On his arrival to the College at Al-Abideyah campus, Dr. Assass saw two models of the laboratories. Each can accommodate up to 25 students.
The head of the English Language Department, Dr. Aboulreish, said that two similar labs were established in Al-Zahir campus at the girls' section. He pointed out that these labs are connected to the university's electronic and internet services. The number of these labs is four, and each lab can accommodate up to 25 students. He noted that the Department of English uses these labs on a daily basis for teaching basic language skills as well as advanced materials provided by the department. This happens through utilizing the available technology to enrich the learning process.
Dr. Ali Aboulreish said that these labs will benefit bachelor and masters degrees students enrolled in the programs of linguistics, literature, and translation, and the number of these students is over 1700. Dr. Aboulreish also praised the directives and support provided by Dr. Assass to the programs offered by the department. He also praised the follow-up of the Dean of Social Sciences, Dr. Mohamed bin Ahmed Basaqr, which contributed to localizing the educational environment to suit the needs of the English language programs.
For his part, Dr. Assass praised the support that UQU receives from the wise government, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, His Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz. Their support, according to Assass, contributed to providing educational means based on the latest technologies, in addition to human resources that are highly qualified at the university’s main headquarters and its branches in the provinces of Jamoum, Al-Laith, Adham, and Al-Qunfudhah. He also praised the guidance and follow-up of the adviser of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Emir of Makkah, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, and the Deputy Emir of Makkah, Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, for the activities and programs of the university, shedding light on the follow-up of the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Eissa, for all the activities of the university.
He explained that the university is keen on utilizing all the modern educational technologies to serve the academic and research environment and offer high-quality products in accordance with the state’s standards and the kingdom’s 2030 visions. He added that restructuring and preparing labs and classrooms is part of the university’s plan towards the academic development of all the programs.
Dr. Assass then took an inspection tour around the academic axis at the university campus in Al-Abideyah. During the tour, he was accompanied by the Head of Public Relations and Media, Mr. Khalid bin Jamil Morsi, and the secretary of Dr. Assass, Mr. Hisham Al-Afghani.
