The Higher Commission of Admission, at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), agreed on accepting the admission of the southern border participants, sons of the martyrs and prisoners to the affiliation program for the coming academic year 1439/1440 AH. This was during the meeting of the Higher Commission that was headed by Dr. Bakri bin Matouq Assas, UQU President, and attended by Dr. Abdelaziz bin Rashad Sorouji, UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs; Dr. Thamer bin Hemdan Al-Harbi, UQU Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research; and members of the Commission, at his office in the university campus of Al-Abediya.
Dr. Assas appreciated the support that UQU receives from the wise government – May Allah supports it. Such support enabled the university to equip the classrooms and laboratories according to the highest standards adopted in the educational process. Accordingly, it will have an impact on the educational outcomes of the university graduates, who will utilize their gained labor market skills to serve the nation and society. Also, HE appreciated the keenness and attention of HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, advisor of the Guardian of the two Holy Mosques and governor of Makka region, and HRH Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, deputy governor of Makkah region, to the programs provided by UQU to the region’s people; paying tribute to Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Eissa, Minister of Education, for his support and directives. Such support enabled the university to be distinguished in several fields.
HE Dr. Assas instructed to utilize all the new equipment so as to serve whoever seeks admission to the university through an electronic system by which the students seeking admission to the coming academic year 1439/1440 AH can deal with. This is to utilize the modern technology in serving the applicants. He also pointed out that the university makes use of an integrated electronic system through the portal of Admission Deanship, in which UQU took into account the latest electronic services in line with the Saudi vision 2030.
Accepting the admission of the southern border heroes and sons of the martyrs to the affiliation program is part of UQU’s social responsibility to serve these groups that receive the support of the wise leadership, May Allah supports it, UQU president said. He added that they sacrificed themselves for their religion and homeland; referring that accepting the admission of prisoners is part of the cooperation between the General Directorate of Prisons in Makkah and UQU. This exclusion is to pay attention to this segment, and provide education to them to be a good brick in the society. Dr. Assas, also, appreciated the efforts of Dr. Abdelaziz bin Rashad Sorouji, Dr. Hashem Al-Samadani, dean of Admission and Registration Deanship, and all the staff for their diligent work.
Dr. Al-Samadani, in turn, said that the Higher Commission has approved the number of those students who will be accepted for the next academic year 1439/1440 AH for Bachelor's degree through the preparatory year programs, the direct admission, the programs of qualifying year and evening preparatory year and the diploma programs. Their number is about 15,000 male and female students, at UQU main headquarters and its branches in the provinces of Jamoum, Al-Lith, Al-Qunfudah and Adham. Except for the program of kindergarten in the female section, the admission to the programs of the Education College for the academic year 1439/1440 AH was closed, until it would be updated in line with the Saudi vision 2030 and according to the relevant directives of the Minister of Education, Dr. Al-Samadani added. He, also, lauded the support of UQU President and Dr. Abdelaziz Souruji as well as the efforts of the deanship’s staff and relevant departments.
