Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas, the Umm Al-Qura University President, awarded the participants in the workshop of the main committee for raising awareness of the dangers of smoking in Makkah Region. The event was organized by the University’s Vice Presidency for 13 governmental and charity bodies. It was held under the theme of: "Evaluating Accomplishments and Determining Programs and Their Activating Mechanisms". The event was attended by Dr. Yasser bin Soliman Shosho, the UQU Vice President and the Head of Studies and Planning Committee in the main committee for raising awareness against the dangers of smoking; and Dr. Ali Al-Zaharani, the Secretary-General of the Main Committee, at the training hall of the Deanship of Development and Quality. It was also broadcasted via a closed-circuit television in the meeting room of the College Community Service and Continuous Education at Al-Zahir Campus for girls.
Dr. Yasser Shosho said that a proposal was presented suggesting that a strategic plan should be put for the works of the committee, so that no contradiction would happen in the works of the related bodies, for the service of that theme and out of believing of everyone to activating it by the way that is appropriate to the position of Makkah. He added that the objective of holding such a workshop is to benefit from the ideas and expertise of the Committee’s members and the teaching staff members.
He also lauded the directives and support of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Advisor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and current Governor of Makkah Province, for the committee in the central region of the Great Mosque and the public places in Makkah Region. Dr. Shosho praised the support of the UQU President for activating the community participation of the university by the way that is adequate to its scientific position. He also lauded the efforts of Dr. Ali Al-Zaharani and the work team from the participating government and charity bodies in achieving the committee’s works rapidly.
Moreover, Dr. Bakri praised the support given to the university by the wise leadership, which contributed to providing its educational, research and community messages towards its society. He also lauded the directives of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Advisor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and current Governor of Makkah Province, for the programs and activities that are being offered by the university at its main campus and branches that are covering a wide range of Makkah Region, including Jamoum, Al-Laith, Adhm and Al-Qunfudhah provinces. He highlighted that the hosting of the Vice Presidency of the university for the workshop is an activation for the UQU community message. He also praised the efforts of Dr. Shosho and all the employees in the University’s Vice Presidency for organizing this workshop, which will end up with a lot of recommendations. After that, the UQU President awarded the participants in the workshop.
It is worth mentioning that the workshop included a presentation for strategies and visuals for the participants; initiatives and initial analysis; evaluation of the accomplishments; suggestions for initiatives; and performance measurement.
