UQU Vice President Launches International Cancer's Day in the University Medical Center

Vice President of UQU Dr. Yassir bin Suleiman Shoushou has launched the International Cancer's Day at the University Medical Center in the presence of the Director of the Center Dr. Yassir Hassan BaHakeem and the Director  of Tobacco Control Program in Makkah region Dr. Ali Al-Zahrani on Wednesday Jumada Al-Thani 5, 1439 H.

 

Dr. Shoushou toured all the corners of the event, listened to the participants in the event and lauded such step which reflects commitment of the center to its therapeutic and preventive role. He urged everyone to participate effectively in all the awareness activities which will contribute to upgrading health awareness of all community segments. He also lauded the positive role undertaken by the University Medical Center which reflects quality of the medical services provided for students and affiliates of the university and their families.


At the conclusion of his tour, Dr. Shoushou praised all parties involved in the event and the work team participating in the event from the affiliates of the University Medical Center  and prayed Allah to grant quick and full recovery  for all patients and to perpetuate health, safety and well-being for everyone. 

 

For his part, the Director of the University Medical Center said the center undertakes its preventive role by communicating the best awareness and educational messages to its visitors in particular and the community in general by commemorating the international days and weeks to promote health awareness. He added that the aim behind organizing this event is to educate community about cancer diseases and methods of prevention and to encourage early detection of the disease to provide the needed prevention and treatment of the disease. He went on to add that the event will last for two days from Jumada Al-Thani 5 to 6 1439 H from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM with the participation of King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah, Tobacco Control Program and the Clinical Education Department at Makkah Health Affairs Directorate.

 

Within the same vein, Dr. BaHakeem said the event included introductory wall paintings, awareness corners, distribution of awareness flayers, brochures and  souvenirs about the most common types of cancers in Saudi Arabia and methods of prevention against them besides visual presentations via the display screens available at the reception, lobbies of the center and waiting areas  in addition to launching "Hope" wall painting to provide  moral support for the cancer patients.

 

Additionally, he said health awareness clinics were opened on tobacco control, clinical education and early detection of some cancer diseases targeting certain categories of men and women. "The Laboratory Unit also participated in conducting some early detection tests for some targeted categories during the event", he expounded.  

   


Wrapping up his speech, Dr. BaHakeem expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas for encouraging such activities and for the support and attention attached to the center. He also extended his thanks and appreciation to the UQU Vice President Dr. Yassir Shoushou for attending and launching this event and for his continuous follow up of the activities and events of the University Medical Center which contributed to the quality of the therapeutic and preventive services  provided for all students and affiliates of the university and those who have treatment eligibility in the center. He extended his thanks also to all those who involved in the event besides the Public Health Unit in the University Medical Center and all Center's team for their blessed efforts  which contributed to  preparation and implementation of this event. He then prayed Allah to grant quick and full recovery for all patients and to perpetuate health and wellbeing for everyone.
