Under the auspices of Dr. Tawfiq bin Ali Al-Sharif , the Dean of Jamoum University College, and the direct supervision of Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Al-Harbi, the Head of the Department of Chemistry; the department held a training course about (How to Deal with Dangerous Chemical Substances) for the civil defense officers in Makkah. The event was attended by Colonel Saad bin Farijan Al-Rabie’i, the Director of the Department of Civil Defense in Jamoum governorate.
At the beginning of the training, the colonel welcomed the civil defense trainees at the main training hall in Jamoum University College, expressing his happiness with holding such a special course. Then, the Head of the Department welcomed the presence and trainees and gave a detailed presentation about the Department of Chemistry and its scientific programs, adding that this course is a part of the department’s various activities that aim at serving the society.
This was followed by distributing the training bags and giving an introduction about the security and safety standards when directly dealing with dangerous and poisonous chemical substances in different practical circumstances. After that, a workshop was held on the implications of the warning signals on the chemical substances’ containers and how to know them. The teaching staff members, along with the technicians of the department, made a scientific presentation about the incompatibility of some chemical substances.
At the end of the training, the Colonel thanked the Dean of the College, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, and the teaching staff members for organizing and holding such a special course, which benefited more than 20 officers from different departments in the Directorate of Civil Defense in Makah.
