UQU President Honors Makkah TechnoValley Trainees

UQU organized the events of the closing ceremony for the second summer training program by Makkah TechnoVally Co. (Wadi Makkah) for the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for 06 students from different Saudi universities. Present were the UQU President and Chairman of Makkah TechnoValley, Dr. Bakri Matouq Assas, the UQU Vice-president for Development and Entrepreneurship and the Vice-chairman of Makkah TechnoValley, Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, the Vice-president for Educational affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Srouji, the Vice-president for Branches, Dr. Abdulmajeed bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, the Dean of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Mouwafaq Eriga, Makkah TechnoValley CEO, Dr. Faisal bin Ahmed Allaf, summer program training supervisor, Dr. Abdullah Murad, and a number of college deans and deand of supporting deanships. The event took place at King Abdulaziz Hall in Abbideyah Campus.

The ceremony commenced with recitation of verses from the holy Quran, followed by a speech of the UQU President and Chairman of Makkah TechnoValley, Dr. Bakri bin Matouq Assas, in which he thanked Allah for the blessings and natural resources the Kingdom has. He noted that ambitious youth are the true wealth of the homeland if their capabilities and potentials are invested in innovation, knowledge economy and entrepreneurship. In this respect, he indicated that the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is established to be a platform for investment in youth in accordance with Vision 2030 that aims to back entrepreneurship and equip youth with skills and knowledge necessary for meeting job market needs.

The UQU president maintained that Makkah TechnoValley, as the investment pawn of UQU, works in line with the goals of Vision 2030 by polishing skills of youth and preparing them for entrepreneurship through specialized programs and services. The Makkah TechnoValley summer training program was held for the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the second year on comprising over 14 universities, with the aim of investment in youth of the Kingdom.

Assas said, "Today we gather to witness the results of a 2-month hands-on training offered by a selection of highly skilled specialists in cooperation with Makkah TechnoValley Co. in 4 of the sought after domains in job market, which include: programming, design, scientific modeling, and entrepreneurship,". Assas noted that a reward of SAR 3000 has been given to each of the trainees as incentive. He added, "We celebrate today innovative young men and women, who managed to prove their skills during the program that helped hire some of them in Makkah TechnoValley emerging subsidiaries, while others took part in implementation of promising projects that may offer emerging company products someday."

Assas lauded the efforts of Makkah TechnoValley CEO, Dr. Hani Ghazi, in holding such special events and expressed appreciation to the staff of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for providing students with support. He also thanked Makkah TechnoValley Co. for the high quality of program execution.

Later, trainees presented 240 presentations of their innovative projects in programming, design and entrepreneurship, which were executed within 320 training hours.

At the end of ceremony, the UQU president awarded trainees and photos commemorating the event were taken.

In the same context, Assas checked on the trainee projects at Abbideyah Campus. He was accompanied by UQU Vice-president for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani Ghazi, Vice-president for Branches, Dr. Abdulmajeed bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, and the Vice-president for Educational affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Srouji. They examined training courses and applications.
