UQU President Honors Scholarship Female Student for Globally Recognized Achievements

UQU President Dr Bakri bin M'atooq Assas has honored Alaa Qarei, a scholarship female student of the Dental Medicine College at Boston University for her globally recognized achievements, which have won numerous awards. This came during Dr Bakri's meeting with her father, Dr Hosni Qarei at his office in Al-Abideyah. The meeting was attended by Dean of the Dental Medicine College Dr Abdul Aziz Al-Khonati and head of the Preventive Dentistry Department Dr Walid Taju.

UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas congratulated the father of the scholarship female student, Dr. Alaa Qarei, for her achievements during her scholarship, which have won numerous world awards. He noted that the student is considered one of the UQU competencies, who has been qualified in different sciences at the most prestigious world universities. He wished her and all UQU scholarship students success.

For his part, Dr. Hosni Qarei hailed keenness of UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas on honoring the scholarship student Alaa Qarei. He said the honoring will be an incentive for her to exert strenuous efforts to win more world awards.

Dr. Alaa Qarei was chosen among world talents in the UNLEASH program in which 129 countries are participating. UNLEASH is a global innovation lab that aims to achieve UN goals for sustainable development. The program focuses on 7 goals. Her project was discussed during the program as part of the 3rd goal plus "health". Dr Alaa Qarei also won  in MIT Grand Hack 2017 of The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIT Grand Hack 2017 is one of the largest health hackathons in the world with the participation of more than 20 countries.  

She has won the first place with her team during a show presented as part of a competition held at the level of Boston University in early 2017. Strategies for motivating low-income residents of Boston have been presented with a view to using the health programs presented by local social health centers. The project has won praise in the regular meeting of the teaching members of the Public Health College at Boston University. Dr. Alaa Qarei was invited to address a ceremony held by the Saudi Cultural Attache in the U.S. for scholarship students in Boston and another by Northeastern University in celebration of distinguished youth leaders and dentists in other fields to speak about skills of exploration, leadership and design thinking.
