UQU and K.A.CARE Sign Memorandum to Localize Renewable Energy at the Holy Sites

President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assa has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vice President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy Dr. Walid Abu Faraj for cooperation in several fields including localization of renewable energy technologies in the holy sites in the presence of the Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer at K.A.CARE  Mohammed Garwan, UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, Dean of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research Dr. Sami Barhamain in addition to a number of researchers and academicians at Jeddah Hilton.  

Meanwhile, Dr. Assas extended his thanks to K.A.CARE  for signing memorandum of understanding with Umm Al-Qura University represented by the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research particularly that the institute is considered a rich source for hajj and Umrah requirements and implements more than 75 programs and studies in the fields of services provided for pilgrims. "the institute also  observes all difficulties facing pilgrim, analyzes and forwards them to relevant authorities", Dr. Assas expounded.    

 

He added that the Memorandum of Cooperation with K.A.CARE   will be carried out by a number of researchers of  the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research adding that the Institute has the honor to cooperate with all relevant parties to develop hajj system services in accordance with the National Transformation Plan 2020 and in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030.  He lauded keenness of the Vice President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy Dr. Walid Abu Faraj to implement this agreement depending on the technical and human resources capabilities available in the university and due to spatial proximity of UQU to the holy sites.

  

For his part, Dr. Walid Abu Faraj said the memorandum of cooperation signed with UQU represented by the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research comes to support objectives of the National Transformation Program 2020 to research the ambitious Kingdom Vision 2030 adding that the objective behind this memorandum is optimal utilization of renewable energy technologies to serve the pilgrims depending on the initiative of localizing renewable energy technologies.

 

He further added that the memorandum of cooperation will last for 30 years and he lauded cooperation of UQU to implement different fields of this memorandum which will enter into effect starting from the coming Hajj season 1439 H   in Arafat in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030 which intended to provide hajj services for more than 5 million pilgrims by 2030.
