President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas has approved establishment plan of the University Center for Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy at the university campus in Abdyia under the supervision and management of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute in partnership with the College of Applied Medical Sciences. The approval came during a meeting held at the university campus in Abdyia in the presence of the Dean of the Consulting Research and Studies Dr. Ali bin Mohamed Al-Shaari, the Dean of the Applied Medical Sciences Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed A'shi and the Vice Deans and Advisors of the Institute.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Shaari presented complete details of work plan and how to harness the project for the benefit of the community within the community service package provided by the institute in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030 to create a vibrant community that offers positive living environment as the Center is intended to upgrade health services and provide positive living environment. He added that the center is set to upgrade quality of health services and provide the best services fitting the potentials of the university, indicating that the Center will provide distinctive and diverse rehabilitation services for all citizens and residents and visitors of the Grand Mosque.
Further, Dr. Al-Shaari said that the institute's gates are open and its resources and harnessed to serve the nation and build the community, thus contributing to the institute's excellence in providing consultancy and training services in all fields serving the community and the country. He then lauded efforts exerted by the staff of the institute.
For his part, UQU President Dr. Assas said that providing medical rehabilitation services for the community is to be added to the tasks of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute as the contractual arm of the university with the external community. "Providing such services via the Center is attributed to the human and technical potentials available at the College of Applied medical Sciences", he added saying that such services are reckoned and effective contribution from the university to the community to which the university is honored to provide the best services.
Moreover, Dr. Assas said that the university is moving towards investment in the knowledge-based economy and making use of its highly qualified teaching staff exceeding 7 thousand in this regard. He lauded the efforts exerted by the Dean of the Institute Dr. Ali Al-Shaari and his cooperation with the university colleges and deanships to provide all consultancy, medical and training services required by the community.
