UQU President Meets with Students in Qunfudah, Launches Classrooms Project

The President of Umm al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri M. Assas, has met with students and faculty members of the University's branch in Qunfudah at Qunfudah University College Theater. Attending the meeting were the Vice President for Branches, Dr. Abdulmajeed al-Ghamdi, Dean of Admission, Dr. Hashem al-Samadani, Dean of IT, Dr. Majed al-Qithami, Supervisor of the Legal Department, Dr. Hemdan al-Ghamdi, Dean of Leith University College, Dr. Hamed al-Shanbari, and deans of the colleges in UQU Qunfudah Branch, in adiition to a number of the heads of the University's departments.

At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Yasseen al-Zubaidi, Dean of Qunfudah  University College, welcomed the UQU President. For his part, the UQU President, Dr. Bakri Assas, affirmed that the University has harnessed all capabilities and potentials in pursuit of providing the best and highest of educational services to its students. The University has always been upholding its motto: "Student First", which reflects a staunch belief of the University President, as well as its deans, heads of departments and faculty members, in assuming their responsibilities toward students to the best, as well as removing all obstacles hindering their educational and academic progress, and creating an education-friendly environment that stimulates students to reach the highest possible educational attainment.

Meanwhile, Dr. Assas lauded the gracious patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, and Deputy Crown Prince for Umm al-Qura University, and their generous support to it, which enabled the University to provide all the impressive academic utilities, infrastructure and premises, including classrooms, labs, and high-tech equipment.

Dr. Assas went on to say that Qunfudah Campus accommodates over 17,000 students of both genders, divided to five colleges providing academic programs in medicine, health sciences, engineering, and computer science, in addition to the departments of Qunfudah University College, totaling nine theoretical and practical specialties. He commended the the immense efforts made by the Vice President for Branches, Dr. Abdulmajeed al-Ghamdi, along with the team supporting him. He praised, also, the efforts exerted by deans of colleges at Qunfudah Campus, to improve the overall educational process.

It followed that Dr. Assas listened to views and suggestions of students and faculty members. Then, he honored the former Dean of Qunfudah University College, Dr. Hashem al-Samadani, for his colossal contributions. He honored, also, outstanding students. After that, Dr. Assas convened with deans of Qunfudah colleges, following which he toured through the classrooms and premises of Qunfudah University College, and launched a new classrooms building project, to be set up by the Urgent Projects Department. The building is planned to be made up of eight classrooms, 700 square meters each, and is expected to be opened and be ready for work by the next semester.
