President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas launched the morgue and medical skills, chemistry and physiology laboratories at Al-Qunfudhah Medical College in the presence of UQU Vice President for Branches Dr. Abdul Majeed Al-Ghamdi, College Dean Dr. Osama Al-Sheikh, Dean of Information Technology Dr. Majid Al-Qathami, Director General of Public Relations and Media Mr. Khalid Morsi and the Private Secretary of the UQU President, Mr. Hisham al-Afghani.
Following the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Assas met with the students of the medicine college and explained to them that the university has allocated all its technical and human resources and capacities to provide the most upgraded educational services for male and female students besides overcoming all obstacles facing their educational march and providing proper environment to enable them learning properly. Furthermore, he praised the generous support that the UQU receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud, HRH the Crown Prince, and HRH the Deputy Crown Prince- Allah protect them. He noted that the new buildings of the college of medicine in the male and females section and the computer building at the female's section are provided with the latest technologies and laboratories besides the well-qualified cadres including; faculty members and employees.
On their part, students of the medicine college valued the directives of the university president Dr. Bakri Assas and his keenness to provide an educational environment including laboratories and buildings fitting with the educational outputs of the academic programs.
In a similar context, Dr. Assas checked on buildings of the college of medicine and computer at Al-Qunfudhah university campus. He also inspected buildings of the colleges of health sciences, engineering, and Al-Qunfudhah university college where he was received by the deans of colleges at the university branch in Al-Qunfudhah. During his visits, he checked on the educational, administrative and service preparations of these different colleges.
For his part, Dean of Medicine College in Al-Qunfudhah, Dr. Osama Al-Sheikh said the college comprises of 14 departments nine out of which are basic departments while the other five are clinical departments including specialties of physiology, biochemistry, medical genetics, anatomy, microbiology, parasitology, hematology and immunology, pharmacology and toxicology, pathology, pediatrics, women and childbirth, internal medicine, in addition to surgery medicine, community medicine, and healthcare. He further added that the number of male and female students enrolled in the college is 141.
He went on to say that the morgue launched by UQU President can accommodate 40 students in which students are able to dissect the entire body in its real size, make vertical and horizontal sections and identify human body parts.
