Oral Reading Assessment Students will be assessed on their oral reading skills through one of the following methods, based on their preference: 1. In-class reading 2. Recorded reading uploaded to Blackboard 3. One-on-one reading with the instructor (during office hours, on campus or virtually) This assessment evaluates students’ ability to demonstrate proper intonation, pausing, pronunciation, and understanding of sentence structure and punctuation (e.g., pauses at commas and full stops). Students are encouraged to use the audio tools in the National Geographic Learning Pathways textbook, which include recorded readings to help them practice and refine their oral reading skills. The minimum requirement for this level is one paragraph, and grading will follow the rubric in the department’s Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Strategy Handbook to ensure consistency and fairness. This assessment, conducted between Weeks 8 and 11, is not part of the final evaluation. Its aim is to develop students’ oral reading skills throughout the semester. Instructors should regularly remind students of proper techniques and encourage continuous practice.	5%
