1.1 Mapped to: K1

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the terminology used in engineering materials related to Polymer and Composite materials. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of molecular weight, Polymer chain length, Monomer, polymer, crystallinity, and amorphous materials. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of polymer and composite materials' mechanical behavior and manufacturing properties.

Teaching Strategy •Lectures: given on topics as class progresses, with special consideration within the class to link the existing topic with students' existing knowledge and further with the general overview. •Review: review the content of each lecture and clarify any matters not understood. •Assignments: groups of students up to 3 are assigned to join in a team work; which includes solving problems in various structural members and submit reports (the work, which should be completed by week 14, involves look up of reference materials and websites). Tutorial: Students are invited to take a full part in discussion (each student raised a prepared question for class discussion)
Assessment Methods As class/topics progress, exercises/homework are assigned. Short quizzes (20 minutes) in class are given; in addition, true/false, multiple choice item on the midterm and final exams are given
1.4 Mapped to: K1

Display advanced knowledge and understanding of processes, materials, techniques, conventions and terminology associated with mechanical engineering

3.1 Mapped to: V2

Function effectively as a member or leader of the team.

Teaching Strategy Assignments & Project: small groups of students (4 or 5) are assigned to join in a teamwork, which includes preparing presentations on topics related to the course and presenting them to train the students to be self learners, to be able to present their work and to be able to work in teams.
