Science and Technology Unit is an independent entity that develops plans and supports strategic and ordinary techno-science projects. It was formed to improve and follow up the implementation of new projects, taking into consideration its consistency with the goals of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Plan (NSTIP).

The unit works under the supervision of Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan bin Jaber al-Harbi, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. It is managed byDr. Faisal bin Ahmed Al Allaf.

 

Vision:

The Science and Technology Unit is a unique and effective participation from the Umm al-Qura University (UQU) and its staff to achieve the long-term goals of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Plan (NSTIP).

 

Mission:

The Science and Technology Unit supports the strategic and ordinary techno-science projects at Umm al-Qura University (UQU). It is formed to improve and follow up the implementation of projects, taking into consideration its consistency with the goals of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Plan (NSTIP) by:

  • Encouraging the UQU's professors, researchers and postgraduate students to participate to the long-term NSTIP.
  • Helping the UQU's professors and researchers to suggest new advanced research projects..
  • Following up the progress of projects and tackling the challenges that may appear on way for the on-time delivery.

 

Objectives:

  1. Present the UQU community with the National Comprehensive Long-term Plan for Science and Technology;
  2. Promote the university's contribution (in terms of both quality and quantity) to the National Comprehensive Plan for Science and Technology;
  3. Advise scholars to ensure coming up with high-quality research proposals, and conformity to the objectives of the National Comprehensive Plan for Science and Technology;
  4. Take over administrative and technical supervision of UQU projects pertaining to the National Comprehensive Plan for Science and Technology; and
  5. Liaise with the General Secretariat of the National Comprehensive Plan for Science and Technology.
