The Department teaches its students the ten Qira'at (recitations) in six courses through the chain of Ash-Shaatibiyyah and in two courses through the chain of Al-Durrah. It also teaches the ten major (recitations) in six courses divided between the master’s and the PhD degrees. The graduate student would be specialized in recitations and their sciences.
The Bachelor's degree prerequisites include: Scripting of Qur’an (Rasm Al Quran) in two courses, the Science of Dhabt (Verification) in one course, Taujih Al-Qira'at in two courses, and Al Fawasil in one course.
The Department also teaches the subject of Holy Quran in four courses for all UQU students, in addition to three other courses of the Holy Quran to be given to students of the Departments of Quran and Sunnah, Creed (Aqidah), and Da'wa. Also, it provides the (Introduction to Science of Recitations) subject, which is being taught to the students in the Colleges of Da'wa, Arabic Language and Social Sciences.
The female students of the Department of Recitations are being taught by a number of male and female teaching staff members that reached 36 members. It is worth mentioning that few years ago, the specialty in the Science of Recitations was one of the unique and rare specialties but thanks to Allah and the continuous scientific efforts in the Department, it widely spread and saw high turnout.
