Student Excuse Unit

Overview:

Student Excuse Unit is affiliated to the University Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs. It is concerned with serving the students of the Preparatory Year through receiving and examining their excuse requests of all types (medical, family, social, etc.), and making the appropriate decision according to the university's regulations and laws.

Objectives:

  • Serving the students of the Preparatory Year by receiving their excuse requests and carefully studying them in order to make the appropriate decision according to the university's regulations and laws.

  • Providing the necessary support to the students and answering all their questions about absences.

  • Directing and forwarding students' requests to the concerned parties in order to undergo the required medical examination.
  • Facilitating the mechanism of dealing with the students and examining their excuse requests in a clear, systematic way.
  • Following up on the cases submitted by the students and determining the rate of their non-attendance in different classes.
  • Referring the approved excuses to class coordinators and the English Language Center.

Functions:

  • Drafting of a special bylaw for the excuse unit to regulate the approval and rejection of requests according to the outlined articles (for absence), so that the work proceeds within the unit based upon systematic steps.
  • Preparation and presentation of student excuse forms.
  • Working to establish official records that support the rights of both the university and the student regarding various kinds of excuses.
  • Receipt of excuse requests submitted by students, whether regarding non-attendance of a lecture or a midterm or final exam.
  • Studying the cases of exclusion (from exams) due to exceeding the limit allowed for absence and transferring them to the Student Counseling and Support Unit.
