Duties and Work Undertaken by the Department

  1. Studying minutes of the meetings of the councils of the colleges and institutes received from the President of the University, and giving legal opinions on them.
  2. Studying minutes of the different councils of the university, including: the Postgraduate Studies Council, Deanship of Scientific Research Council, and the Student Fund Council.
  3. Studying minutes of the different councils referred to the department to give a legal opinion on what was taken from the decisions and recommendations, for e.g., the Standing Committee on Scholarship and Training, and the Standing Committee for Teaching Assistants, Lecturers, Language Instructors, and Research Assistants.
  4. Revising the rules, agreements, and contracts referred to the legal department in terms of legal procedures and formulations.
  5. Drafting decisions and circulars referred to the legal department by the UQU President or Vice Presidents.
  6. Representing the university before all the judiciary bodies, including the grievance board, first instance courts appeal courts, and high courts.
  7. Preparing necessary notes on the university defense in all cases and matters of which the university is a part.
  8. Studying the different transactions referred to the legal department from the different departments of the university to give the legal opinion on them.
  9. Reviewing the minutes and recommendations of the administrative investigation with the UQU affiliates subjected to the Employees Disciplinary Regulation, as well as expressing the regulatory opinion in this regard, and studying the grievances filed by them or by other people.
  10. Preparing a group of university legal rules and regulations, according to the latest amendments given to it.
  11. Carrying out any tasks entrusted to it by the authorized persons entering within the sphere of its competence.
  12. Providing the physical interpretations of the rules and regulations, upon request.
  13. Studying the grievances coming to the department from the university employees or others, and giving the legal opinion to the authorized person.
