The Mediasite platform is one of the supporting tools of the Blackboard e-learning system. It aims at sharing the audio and video recordings of the academic staff members with students to increase the scientific outcome and support the e-learning and distance education process. The academic staff members can produce a professional educational video by applying the editing tools available on the Mediasite platform.
Specific objectives related to the Document of the ‘Mediasite Platform Policies’:
The Document of the Mediasite Platform Policies aims at explaining use procedures by the academic staff members and colleges, explaining the property rights of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education related to the content published on the platform. This is in addition to defining the type of the data and the ethics of uploading and publishing content, to avoid violating laws and the policies of Umm Al-Qura University along with the policies of the Ministry of Information in the Saudi Kingdom.
Data access and record keeping:
All items on the Mediasite platform are available for reading for all the students and academic staff members when the academic staff members select (Make the Content Available). Mediasite is accessible via the computer or other portable devices. The Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education allows records to be kept on the Mediasite server for five years. The Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education is entitled to restrict the space allowed for the user on the Mediasite platform, when necessary.
Account creation and access:
The Mediasite platform is one of the supporting tools of the Blackboard e-learning system. Users can log in to the Mediasite platform by logging in to the Blackboard e-learning system. The username of the account of the academic staff member is the same official name registered in the university website.
Privacy and System Management Policy by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education:
The Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education is entitled to access the content of the Mediasite platform data to perform the following: review and examine the content, modify or delete the content, and maintain the system or investigate security incidents and abuse. All items recorded or photographed by the academic staff members or students are the property of Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education.

Mediasite is a video sharing platform. The academic staff member is entitled to prepare his own content and shoot videos to share on the platform. Moreover, he is allowed to edit the video and upload it on the platform, and also control the settings of access to the content.
