Introduction:

This excellence award aims to encourage the participation of faculty members in creating effective e-courses to be provided through the university’s e-learning portal.    

Special Conditions:

  • All the award forms must be completed and submitted.
  • The same work can be submitted for the award by more than one faculty member, provided that the application is done on behalf of one of the team’s members.
  • The e-course link and respective attachments must be sent to the university’s award email account.
  • Any programs or tools required to enable browsing of course items must be specified.
  • The course must be uploaded to the e-learning management system, and its content must be verified.

Judging Criteria:

A group of main and sub-criteria have been established to evaluate the e-courses submitted for the award.

Forty percent of the assessment will be based on the objectives and content of the e-course; another forty percent on the instructional strategies and learning activities utilized in the e-course, while the remaining twenty percent on the quality of the technical design of the e-course.

  1. Description of the e-course

1. The e-course syllabus should convey the general educational objectives in a clear, precise manner.

2. The e-course syllabus should specify the educational resources and the preparatory requirements that are necessary for the study of this curriculum.

B. Accuracy of the e-course content

1. The content should include references and provide guidance to further resources that can be accessed to ensure the accuracy of the information provided in the course.

2. Each module should contain an overview of each lesson with a list of its objectives, contents, activities, tasks, and pre-and-post assessment methods.

3. The content must be error-free.

4. All images, diagrams, illustrations, and tables contained within the course should be original.

1. The scientific materials and educational resources should be diverse and non-repetitive.

The second factor: Teaching strategies and learning activities

  1. Teaching strategies, learning activities, and evaluation of student performance

2. The evaluation strategies should be in line with the goals and objectives of the e-course and must accurately and clearly represent its scope.

3. The e-course should include various methods to evaluate student learning.

4. The e-course should provide the targeted learners with several forms and examples of self-evaluation.

1. The course should incorporate effective interaction with the learners.

The third factor: Technical Design

3. The course structure should ensure smooth handling, controllability (freedom of control), and ease of navigation.
