A Brief Historical Overview:

  • In 1403 A.H., corresponding to 1983, the Supreme Council of Universities, at its first session held on Tuesday, 20 Jumada Al-Awwal, 1403 A.H., approved the establishment of the Medical Sciences Department as one of the scientific departments affiliated to UQU College of Applied Sciences in Makkah.

  • In 1405 A.H., the first batch of twenty students was accepted in the department.

  • The department served as the nucleus for the establishment of the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences.
  • In 1416 A.H., a royal decree was issued confirming the decision of the Supreme Council of Universities to transfer the Department of Medical Sciences into the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences.
  • In 1426 A.H., a royal decree was issued approving the separation of the Department of Medical Sciences from the College of Medicine. In so doing, it became a self-contained college named the College of Applied Medical Sciences, comprising many sections (programs), one of which is the Clinical Nutrition program.
