The course of "Application of Quality Matters (QM) in Electronic Course Design" which was presented by the UQU Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education in the Joint Training Program for the Academic Staff Members at the Saudi Universities on Saturday, 6 Safar 1441 A.H., corresponding to 5 October 2019 A.C., has seen an overwhelming turnout. The advertisement for this course won the first place in relation to the registration numbers, as the different Saudi universities hastened to register for the course. The early numbers of those registered for the course reached 2 thousand, forcing the coordinator of the joint training program in e-learning among universities to close registration for the course.

It is worth mentioning that the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education participated in this program with an online training course in the blackboard system with regard to the application of quality matters in developing courses. The course was delivered by Dr. Hasan Abdul-Aziz Al-Sabbagh.

This course is part of a series of courses organized to implement the recommendations of the fifth meeting of the Committee of Deans of E-Learning and Distance Education in Saudi universities. It is included in the seventh recommendation concerning the activation of the joint training program in e-learning among universities. It was agreed that a training course will be conducted each semester, and will be delivered by a trainer to be chosen from each university. A training package will also be prepared for that purpose.

The workshop tackled the following themes:

  • The concept of electronic courses and their components.
  • The importance of using Quality Matters for electronic course design.
  • The application of quality standards in electronic course design.
