The Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education Holds Introductory Activities and Concentrated Training Programs

Last week, the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education held a group of introductory and training activities that basically addressed the use of the Blackboard e-learning system.

The female section at the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education organized four introductory meetings for the female postgraduate students as well as the female students of the College of Pharmacy, College of Dentistry, and Rea Zhakhir Campus. Two training courses were also held at the College of Pharmacy and the College of Applied Medical Sciences. Moreover, in the frame of its celebrations of the 89th National Day and in collaboration with the Deanship of Scientific Research, the female section at the deanship held an activity using virtual reality technology to display the names of distinguished female researchers at Umm Al-Qura University. This meeting took place on Thursday, 27 Muharram, 1441 A.H., corresponding to 26 September, 2019 A.C., at the pavilion of the Deanship of Scientific Research (female section), from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The activity included playing a video on virtual reality, and organizing a workshop about the virtual reality and how to organize e-competitions on this topic.

In the framework of its training program, the male section conducted a visit to Al-Qunfudhah University Branch. A concentrated training program was presented at the training hall of the College of Engineering in Al-Qunfudhah on how to use the Blackboard and virtual classroom system. This program targeted the academic staff members at the College of Engineering in Al-Qunfudhah, and lasted for two days: Wednesday and Thursday 26 and 27 Muharram, 1441 A.H., corresponding to 25 and 26 September 2019 A.C., with four training hours per day. Similarly, on Monday, 1 Safar 1441 A.H., corresponding to 30 September, 2019 A.C., a training course was organized at the College of Health Sciences in Al-Abdiyyah.

Several topics were discussed during these meetings, the most important of which were becoming acquainted with the basics of the Blackboard system, introducing the main interface of the course, in line with quality standards, uploading the educational content using multimedia, and performing and evaluating homework in the educational curricula. Some meetings included the topics of producing and evaluating tests, forming question banks, learning about the evaluation center, and using Collaborate Virtual Classrooms.
