For a period of three days, the two sections of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education participated in the New Students Forum of Umm Al-Qura University, which was organized by the Deanship of Students Affairs under the slogan of "Confident Start". The event entailed receiving more than 13,000 students in King Saud Hall in Al-Abdiyyah with the aim of introducing the students to all aspects of university life as well as the work carried out by the UQU colleges and supportive deanship. In addition, the forum aimed to raise students' awareness about their rights and duties, as well as the services of the student clubs.
The Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education participated in the forum with a rich pavilion, for the fifth consecutive year. The participation basically aimed at introducing the services of the deanship and the significant role assigned to the deanship in improving the educational process and ensuring the quality of its outputs. Large numbers of male students visited the deanship pavilion during the daytime, while the female students visited the pavilion in the afternoon. This was in addition to a large number of visitors who attended the presentation in the theatre.
Following the inauguration, His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bahusain Bafail, visited the pavilions participating in the forum, and reviewed the contents of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education pavilion. He was accompanied by the UQU's Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Suruji, as well as a number of deans.
During the introductory meetings of the forum, the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education had an opportunity to offer a presentation for the male students in the morning session and for the female students in the evening session in which the importance and benefits of the e-learning were explained, besides the different e-systems available in the deanship. The main focus was given to the Blackboard System and how to register and login to it, and how to access the e-courses. The deanship also prepared an introductory video which was broadcasted throughout the three forum days.
The UQU President praised the deanship's support and the brief given to students, and wished a successful academic year for all UQU students. The UQU's Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Suruji, expressed his happiness for the rich participation of the deanship in the new students' forum. On his part, the Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education, Dr. Khalid bin Hatim Al-Mutairi, lauded the unlimited support enjoyed by the deanship from the UQU President and the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs.
