Deanship of University Studies Inaugurates Introductory Meeting of

On behalf of Dr. Hala bint Saeed Al-Amoudi, Dean of the University Studies for Girls, Prof. Sheikha bint Saud Ashour, Vice-Dean of University Studies for Girls for Educational Development Affairs, launched the introductory meeting of "Scientific Research Lighthouse" event within the framework of scientific research culture spread. The event took place on Thursday 24th Safar 1438H at Al-Jafali 2 Hall.

Prof. Ashour was warmly received by Dr. Hanadi Mohamed Hussein Bihairi, Vice Dean of Scientific Research for Development, Quality and Academic Accreditation (Female section). The event was also attended by the female Vice Deans and a number of female staff members.  

The event started with a Qur'anic recitation followed by a speech by Dr. Abdurrahman bin Ghalib Al-Ahdal, Dean of Scientific Research. Then, the Dean of the University Studies for Girls' speech was given by Prof. Sheikha bint Saud Ashour, Vice-Dean of University Studies for Girls for Educational Development Affairs. Dr. Ashour stated that such event was considered a start point towards scientific and knowledge-related future which utilized modern technology, facilitated communication with and benefit from other cultures, and boosted knowledge competencies and abilities towards the prospective research competition and scientific progress.  

Dr. Ashour also added that the launch of "Scientific Research Lighthouse" would render Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of Scientific Research, in line with the international universities in the domain of research and scientific progress. It encouraged researchers to effectively participate in and contribute to the presentation of distinguished research ideas, expanded their horizons to exchange scientific and knowledge experiences in life, and granted them both self-confidence and motivation to resume national service in order to fulfill the objectives of Future Vision 2030.

At the end of the speech Dr. Ashour extended deep thanks to the President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri bin Maatooq Assas, for his continuous support and attention. Moreover, she thanked Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Ahdal, Dean of Scientific Research, and Dr. Suhail Ba-Jammal for their concern towards the domain of research and the launch of "Scientific Research Lighthouse."  She also thanked Dr. Hanadi Mohamed Hussein Bihairi, Vice Dean of Scientific Research for Development, Quality and Academic Accreditation (Female section), Dr. Haifa' Fida, Vice Dean of the Arabic Language and Literature Research Centre, as well as Dr. Somayya Hariri, and invoked Allah, the Almighty, to crown their efforts with success.

On the other hand, Dr. Hanadi Mohamed Hussein Bihairi, Vice Dean of Scientific Research for Development, Quality and Academic Accreditation (Female section), gave a speech in which she expressed her gratitude to the attendees. She also noted at the beginning of "Scientific Research Lighthouse" establishment, as well as the initial studies that contributed to such event which rendered scientific research more comprehensive and easy for the various categories of researchers.

Afterwards, Dr. Haifa' bint Othman Fida, the Supervisor of the event, gave a speech accompanied by a presentation, while Dr. Somayya Sharaf was invited to give the speech of the supervisory team. 

The event included introduction of the Lighthouse's domains and teamwork, on top of which were the Deanship's news, research scholarships, scientific awards, sources, conferences and meetings, basics and applications of the scientific method, courses, workshops, regulations, systems, reports, and influential researchers' series.   

It is worth mentioning that the "Scientific Research Lighthouse" was activated in an up-to-date way via Twitter and a channel of the blog on Telegram. This enabled many researchers to scientifically participate within a wide framework which allowed the existence of seminars that comprised large numbers of researchers, the upload and share of large capacity links, the ability to link all such data with an iCloud application on the same blog.
