Under the auspices of Dr. Salwa bint Muhammad Al-Mihmadi, the Vice Dean of University Studies for Girls in Rea Zhakhir, the Student Activity Unit, with the participation of the departments of the College of Arabic Language, the Community College, the College of Business Administration, and the English Language Department, held an event entitled "Our Heritage is Unique", on Wednesday, 8 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H.
The event began with a tour to the pavilions established by the participating colleges and administrative departments, including the pavilion of "Glimpses from Badiyat Al-Hijaz (the Hijaz Region)". This pavilion was under the supervision of Dr. Ghadah Al-Sa`idi, and included a tent displaying the ancient tools used by the Bedouins of Hijaz. The tour also covered the pavilion of "Our Safe Food Throughout our Time-Honored History", which was held under the supervision of Dr. Amal Siddiq, and in which old-fashioned food was presented, including some dishes dishes that are still eaten these days. The Community College also participated with its activities that included a presentation of the heritage of the Southern and Central Regions and the Hijaz, such as the food, clothing, and tools used in the past. The staff of the administrative departments participated in the pavilion of the Hijaz Region, presenting the heritage of the people of Taif, Makkah, and Madinah. The English Department participated with a presentation of the heritage of the Northern and Eastern people, under the supervision of Dr. Wijdan Al-Sa`idi and Ms. Sarah Al-Ahmadi. The students of the College of Business Administration presented the heritage of the Southern Region. And finally, a drama program was prepared by the College of Arabic Language and Literature.
The ceremony began with a welcome speech, followed by recitation of the Qur'an. After that, Prof. Salwa Al-Mihmadi gave a speech in which she praised the contributions of the colleges in the event, appreciating the creative efforts exerted by the students to present this event at such a wonderful level that showed our beautiful heritage. They stressed the importance of maintaining this heritage and introducing it to the future generations in light of the recent developments made to achieve the vision of 2030. Next, Dr. Amirah Sambes and Dr. Hamdah Al-Jabri presented a lecture entitled, "The Cultural and Social Life in the Hijaz Environment, in the Light of Folk Proverbs." Following that, charades were played to introduce classical proverbs. The game was supervised by Dr. Sahar Ashqar, and performed by the students of the College of Arabic Language. This was followed by a video presentation on the heritage and the anthem of Ahl Awwal, prepared and supervised by Dr. Amirah Sambes and Ms. Asma' Al-Ghamdi. Then the show entitled, "Heritage and History", was performed by the students of the Department of Literature, under the supervision of Dr. Rahmah Al-Raimi. Finally, there was a presentation entitled, "Saudi Women in Their Heritage Costumes" that was supervised by Dr. Insaf Bukhari with the participation of a number of female employees.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Salwa bint Muhammad Al-Mihmadi, the Vice Dean of University Studies for Girls in Rea Zhakhir, praised all the participants in the ceremony and the sponsors, and gave them certificates of thanks and appreciation.
