Under the supervision of His Excellency Dr. Khalid Al-Mutairi, Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education, and within the framework of providing support services to various colleges and educational institutes at Umm Al-Qura University, a joint working session was held between officials from the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning, led by Dr. Ahmad Humaid, the Vice-Dean of the College for Technical Affairs and the officials of the College of Arabic Language and Literature, led by the Dean of the College, Prof. Abdullah bin Nasir Al-Qarni. The session was held to discuss the prospects of partnership between the two parties regarding the implementation of the Course Development project, and the services for the e-learning lab. This meeting took place on Tuesday, 9 Jumada Al-Awwal 1440 A.H., corresponding to 15 January 2019, at the headquarters of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education in the University City in Al-Abdiyyah.
The meeting was attended by the Dean of the College of Arabic Language and Literature as well as His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Al-Udwani, Vice-Dean of the College, His Excellency Dr. Sa`id Al Yazid, the College Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs and Development, His Excellency the Head of the E-Learning Unit at the College, the Certified Trainer Mr. Muhammad bin Sa`id Al-Qarni, His Excellency Dr. Usamah Al-Salmi, the Head of the Department of Arabic Linguistics, Morphology, and Syntax, and His Excellency Dr. Islam Abu Al-Khair, the Secretary to the Council of the Department of Literature.
The meeting was also attended by the Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education for Technical Affairs, as well as Dr. Hasan Al-Sabbagh, Mr. Ra'id Al-Ghazzawi, Mr. Iyad Al-Badir, and Eng. Muhammad Nabil Khedr.
The working session tackled all aspects of the partnership between the two institutions in order to contribute to the achievement of the University's strategic objectives, mainly the improvement of educational outcomes, using modern technology and methods in the educational process. The meeting also discussed how to cooperate in order to successfully implement the e-Courses Development Project, which has been entrusted to the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education in coordination with the colleges. The services of the e-learning lab were also discussed.
The meeting reviewed the Academic Courses Development Project and the requirements and conditions that should be stipulated to help the College select courses and experts. The meeting also reviewed models of the courses that were developed by the Deanship.
Moreover, the terms of the cooperation and partnership agreement with the College, which includes the Academic Courses Development Project, and coordination procedures for activating the e-learning lab in the College were also reviewed. The agreement will be signed upon receiving from the College the names of the courses and the names of experts nominated to attend the development project.
