Based on the importance of raising awareness of nutritional education, and in keeping with the participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the celebration of the World Food Day, the Investment Unit at the College of Community Service and Continuing Education organized the World Food Day Event in cooperation with the investment sites at the campus.
This event was carried out under the auspices of His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Youssef Barqawi, the Dean of the College of Community Service and Continuing Education, under the supervision of Dr. Zaynab bint Muhammad Al-Khidr Al-Qadi, the Vice Dean of the College, and in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Maha bint Hasan Al-Qamhani, Deputy Head of the Software Department, Her Excellency Dr. Azhar bint Rashad Jan, Deputy Head of the Diplomas Department, Ms. Maryam Abdullah Omar, the Nursing Specialist at the University Clinic, and a number of the members of the educational and administrative staff as well as the students from different departments in the College. The event took place on Sunday morning, 12 Safar, 1440 A.H.
In the event, Ms. Nouf Al-Kamli, Coordinator of the Investment Unit, gave a speech in which she welcomed all attendees. She explained that the aim of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of healthy food and its benefits to the mind and body, and the importance of the diversity of food for breakfast, which is the main source of vitality and activity of the body throughout the day. The Nursing Specialist, Maryam Abdullah, pointed out the importance of balanced healthy food, which provides humans with energy and essential nutrients necessary for their growth and for the prevention of diseases.
The activities included a number of presentations of healthy foods, how to choose them according to the classification of the food pyramid, through television screens in the college, as well as a number of fruits, vegetables and food products within the healthy shopping corner. The corner of healthy dishes included a competition aimed at reviewing the criteria for preparing healthy meals, in an atmosphere of fun and one aimed at gaining useful information. After the competition, a number of awards were distributed for the winning dishes.
On her part, Dr. Zaynab bint Muhammad Al-Khidr Al-Qadi, the Vice Dean of the College, emphasized that the College, represented by the Investment Unit, celebrating this day stresses the importance of spreading the culture of healthy food. This also comes in line with the vision of the Kingdom of 2030 which aims at building a vibrant society with a healthy lifestyle. Her Excellency extended her thanks to the Coordinator of the Investment Unit, Ms. Nouf bint Ahmad Al-Kamali, the investment sites, and all the College's affiliates who participated in organizing this event for their outstanding efforts in making this event successful and pleasing for the attendees.
