Under the noble sponsorship of the Dean of the Joint First Year Deanship, Dr. Saad bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, and under the supervision of Her Excellency, Vice Dean of the Medical Stream (Female Section) at Al-Abdiyyah, Dr. Azzah bint Muhammad Bannunah, the Student Advising and Support Unit organized, in cooperation with the University Medical Center, a lecture entitled, "Students' Mental Health". The lecture was delivered by the Mental Health Consultant Dr. Thurayya bint Abdul-Wahhab Al-Tayyib on Sunday, 10 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H.
The lecture began with a video about happiness. Next, Doctor Thurayya addressed mental health and the diseases of this age, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and social phobia, and how to treat and overcome them. She also touched on the concerns of students during exam time, the symptoms of anxiety they experience during that time, and how to overcome them.
The meeting also included consultation sessions for female students and affiliates. In the conclusion, the importance of disseminating the concept of happiness was stressed through inviting students to come to a section in the lecture hall and write expressions of happiness. Some gifts were also presented to the students.
