Joint First Year Branch at Al-Qunfudhah (Male Section) Undertakes Several Activities

Under the noble patronage of his Excellency the Dean of the Joint First Year, Dr. Saad bin Said Al-Ghamdi, and the auspices of his Excellency the Vice-Dean of the Joint First Year for Branches, Dr. Rami bin Adel Basha, the male section of the Deanship at Al-Qunfudhah undertook several activities aiming at developing the skills of the academic affiliates and students, and achieving one of the goals of the University, namely serving and interacting with the surrounding community.

The Joint First Year Branch in Al-Qunfudhah (male section) held a training course on Safar 7, 1440 A.H., to improve their abilities in speaking English by using different terms of greetings. These terms can be used as an introduction to develop the students' conversation skills by learning to use common phrases and sentences that are used frequently in daily life.

The Joint First Year Branch in Al-Qunfudhah (male section) ran a training course on Safar 7, 1440 A.H., for the academic affiliates, entitled, 'Language Acquisition for EFL Students'. It aimed at informing them about the different and up-to-date methods of enabling non-English speakers gain the skills of speaking this language. The meeting included a workshop and discussion of the different methods the academic affiliates use, in order to exchange their experiences.

In the frame of shouldering its role in serving the community, Umm Al-Qura University, represented in the Joint First Year Branch in Al-Qunfudhah (male section), held an activity to donate blood to the Qunfudhah Public Hospital on Safar 29, 1440 A.H., under the auspices of the Al-Qunfudhah Branch Supervisor, Dr. Bilal Al-Zughbi. This activity aimed at developing the spirit of cooperation and fraternity among the students, encouraging them to care about others and thank Allah for the blessings of health and well-being. A great number of students and academic affiliates participated in donating blood. The Qunfudhah Public Hospital expressed their thanks to the students and academic affiliates at the Deanship of the Joint First Year for this righteous initiative.
