Under the generous auspices of His Excellency Dr. Sa`d bin Sa`id Al-Ghamdi, Dean of the Joint First Year Deanship, and under the supervision of Her Excellency, Vice Dean of the Medical Stream, Female Students’ Section, at Al-Abdiyyah, Dr. Azzah bint Muhammad Bannunah, the university's female students and staff participated in the activities of "Glorification of the Holy Land" Program that was held in cooperation with the Faculties of Applied Medical Sciences and Nursing.

Under the slogan 'All Regions of Makkah Are Part of the Holy Land', the program activities began on Wednesday, 3 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H. at the headquarters of the Joint First Year Deanship, Female Students’ Section, at Al-Abdiyyah. Dr. Azzah bint Muhammad Bannunah delivered a welcome speech to those present – including university students and staff and the Deanship of Student Affairs at Al-Zahir. The event was also attended by the Hajar Association for Honoring the Sacred City.

The program events included offering several courses, holding workshops, and creating a number of initiatives. These events were performed in the university campus. The most prominent among these events were: My Brush Has a Story to Tell about Makkah; For Your Sake, O Makkah, We Plant; Zamzam the Eternal Miracle; and A Journey to the Land of Dwelling, Belonging; and Traveling. In addition, special exhibition corners were set up as part of the program, displaying the following themes: ‘Hands of Mercy’, ‘The Makkan Girl’, ‘Fingertips of Makkah’, ‘What You Do not Know about Makkah’, and ‘The Hijazi Corner’. The event also included a number of initiatives that were carried out off campus, the most noteworthy of which was the Reviving the Forgotten and Unpracticed Acts of Sunnah initiative.

Dr. Sa`d bin Sa`id Al-Ghamdi emphasized that these various events reflect the keenness of the deanship to enhance awareness among female students and staff about the Sanctity of Makkah (may Allah preserve it and increase its honor) and strengthen the sense of belonging to Umm Al-Qura University, where the grandeur of the place embraces the honor of knowledge.
