The Deanship of University Studies for Girls at Al-Mansour Campus launched a tree-planting initiative in collaboration with the College of Design and the College of Community Service within the activities of the 'My University is a Piece of the Sacred Area' campaign, under the slogan 'Makkah as a Whole is a Sacred Area', on Monday 27 Safar, 1440 A.H., November 5, 2018. This will take place in the area allocated for planting, which falls in the space around the buildings.
The initiative began under the title, 'Tree-Planting Initiative'. It aimed at revegetation of the area through increasing the planting of trees.
The committee chose native trees that suit the weather and the environment of the Kingdom. Two hundred different seedlings were provided, including bougainvillea, myoporum serratum, vinca rosea, jasmine, Arabian jasmine, and basil. They will also provide suitable places for planting native plants, in addition to irrigation and care services for the trees after the end of the campaign to guarantee their survival and avoid their deterioration.
It is worth mentioning that the tree-planting initiative is a voluntary part of the activities of the 'Makkah as a Whole is a Sacred Area' campaign. One hundred female volunteers have participated in the planting and have actively interacted with this beautiful campaign.
The campaign attained great interaction from female students from the College of Design, the College of Community Service, and the students’ council of the College of Design.
The Deanship of University Studies for Girls at Al-Mansour thanks all those who participated in the tree-planting initiative at Al-Mansour campus, including female students, academic affiliates, and administrative staff at the College of Community Service and the College of Design. Thanks are also given to eng. Shakir Al-Harthy, Imad Al-Subhy, and Dinah Al-Hassany for their great efforts in rendering the campaign successful. It is hoped that the campaign will enjoy continued success.
