Under the slogan "Do not be the eighth woman … Early detection of cancer saves your life", under the honorable patronage of His Excellency the Dean of the Joint First Year, Dr. Sa`d bin Sa`id Al-Ghamdy, and under the supervision of the Vice Dean of the Medical Stream (female section) in Al-`Abdiyyah, Dr. Azzah Muhammad Bannona, the Joint First Year Club (female section) organized an awareness campaign on early detection of breast cancer. This event was organized in cooperation with the Health Awareness Sector at the Public Health Department in coincidence with the World Breast Cancer Day.
The event started with a lecture delivered by the Family Medicine Consultant, Dr. Isra' Imam. The meaning of the slogan, as well as the importance of the prevention of cancer, early detection, and monthly check-ups, were discussed. The event also highlighted the importance of healthy food for the prevention of this disease, and explained its symptoms and causes. Then the female students took a tour under the supervision of the accompanying health education team. At the conclusion of the event, competitions were held and prizes were presented in the presence of the curriculum coordinators and the female members of the teaching staff at the event's location.
