With the supervision of Dr. Khalid Al-Mutairy, Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education, and in the presence of Dr. Yasser Al-Hazemy, Vice Dean for Academic Development and Community Service, a training course on virtual classrooms was organized. The course was presented by Dr. Adel Balsadeq and Eng. Mahmoud Khedr on Monday, 21st Muharram 1440H (1st October 2018) at the Training Room in the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education in the Abediyah-based University City.
At the beginning of the course, the significance of virtual classrooms in the E-Learning Platform was presented. In other words, virtual classrooms served as a learning environment with the same characteristics and advantages of real classrooms. In addition, they facilitate access to educational objects and advanced learning experiences, and allow learners and teachers to take part in and control the progress of lectures using PCs and smart phones. Moreover, virtual classrooms allow synchronized and non-synchronized interaction between students and teachers on the one hand, and students with each other on the other. They also allow recording lectures in full and referring to them when needed.
It is worth mentioning that the course comprised two parts: theory and practice. Besides, accounts were created for staff-member participants. Staff members were also trained to create a virtual classroom with their students and use the various tools provided by the virtual classrooms system.
